Office Of Public Information

Office of Public Information
The Office of public Information (OPI) reaches out equally to the internal UB community as well as to the external UB community, including the media. The office works closely with the computer technicians at UB’s ICT Department, which maintains the UB student email system as well as with the Web site server that maintains the faculty and staff email system and hosts the UB Web site; this is University Management Ltd. Additionally, OPI works closely with the Admissions Office and with the Office of Student Affairs. Naturally, all faculty and staff, through the Provost’s Office, the Deans, the Human Resources Office, and various departments, also feed into the OPI’s outputs. The Office comes under the direct responsibility of the president. The OPI office number at the UB Belmopan campus is 822-3680, ext. 204 or 205. It is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., inclusive the lunch hour (closes 4:30 p.m. Fridays). Additionally, the Belize City campus has a Public Information Desk at the campus of the Faculty of Education and Arts which has OPI personnel Tuesdays and Thursday during normal working hours. The Belize City number is 223-0256, ext. 450. You can also email the Office directly at opi@ub.edu.bz. An emergency cell number for the Office is 610-2560.
Two student production assistants help service OPI; the Office also has the able assistance of Gina Hernandez of the Development Office. OPI publishes a monthly UB Bulletin, handles daily internal UB communication traffic, helps maintain the website and does external and internal public information, including maintaining media relations
