Cynthia Thompson, Ph.D.
Assistant Provost
Cynthia Thompson, Ph.D. is UB’s Assistant Provost, a new post necessitated by the growing UB numbers. She assumed office June 1, 2009. Dr. Thompson’s professional experience includes her stewardship as Dean of UB’s Faculty of Education and Arts from Aug. 2000 - July 2003, when she left for her doctoral studies. Previously, she was principal of the former Belize Teachers’ College from April 1989 - July 2000. Additionally, Dr. Thompson was on the Secretariat of the UB Development Task Force. She was also a leader in the development and implementation of the Teacher Education component of the Belize Primary Education Development Project from 1992-1999.
As Assistant Provost at UB, Dr. Thompson is focusing on academic administration, providing leadership in the strategic and operational management of the distribution and assignment of faculty, enrolment processes and student support services, record keeping and information systems and UB’s research and technical services. Her office is located on the ground floor of the UB-Belmopan Administration Building, Telephone 822-3680, ext. 210.
