UB initiates research on High School Dropouts
The University of Belize, in keeping with its commitment to national development through excellence in teaching, research and service, will initiate a High School Dropout Study Project to identify the factors contributing to dropouts among school-aged children in the country.
The Project seeks to promote research and analysis that will inform debate about ways to engage with the Ministry of Education and Youth (MOEY) in addressing the root causes of the problem.
The University of Belize, through the Policy Observatory in collaboration with the University’s Research Office is developing a social research agenda that addresses national priorities.
The Policy Observatory has been established to promote the University’s involvement in public
policy making processes particularly those aimed at children and other vulnerable groups.
The Agreement for the establishment of the Policy Observatory was signed between the University of Belize and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in 2011.
The services of a researcher is required to conduct a baseline study that will serve as a launch pad for a broader research program and establish a network of partners to advance this program.
Interested researchers are requested to submit in electronic format an Expression of Interest to the Research Office / Policy Observatory not later than July 17th to email@example.com or contact UB’s Director of Research, Dr. Filiberto Penados at 822-3860 or 1000 extension 181.
