Over the last past years, Several types of research projects have been carried out at the CCFS. These include the following:

1. Survey of Turneffe's crocodile population. Dr. Steven Platt, Clemson University, SC, USA. 1994-1998.

2. Terrestrial habitat survey of Turneffe Atoll . Dr. Simon Zisman, University of Edinburgh, UK. 1995.

3. Caribbean Coastal Marine Productivity (CARICOMP): mangrove, seagrass and coral reef habitats. University
of Belize Institute of Marine Studies. 1996-ongoing.

4. The role of mangroves as nurseries for fauna of commercial importance . Clare Muller, University of Edinburgh,
UK. 2000-2001. Dissertation report not yet completed.

5. The hermaphroditic behavior of the Island Goby . David Allsop, University of Edinburgh, UK. 2001-2001. Dissertation report not yet completed.

6. Status of the coral reef health in Belize. Melanie McField, University of South Florida, USA (Calabash reef was a study site is this project).

7. The spawning behaviors and recruitment patterns of reef fishes in the Turneffe Islands Atoll . Dr. Peter Sale et al. University of Windsor, Canada, 2001-ongoing.

8. Mangrove seedling dynamics: recruitment and mortality in high energy vs low energy areas . Eden Garcia, Institute
of Marine Studies. 2002-ongoing.

9. Recovery of Mangrove forests and Islands after a Hurricane Hattie in Belize: Turneffe Islands Atoll . Collaboration between the SERC, IMS and Mr. Faustino Chi (IMS Staff on study leave) from University of Bremen, Germany. 2002 -ongoing.
