Fourth Bi-National Seminar Mexico-Belize on Sustainable Development in the Maya World
The Bi-national Seminar is an annual event that started in 2015 as an initiative of the Embassy of Mexico in Belize, with the purpose of enhancing academic cooperation between both countries. It is a joint effort that has promoted dialogue and collaboration between institutions on both sides of the border, such as the University of Belize, Universidad de Quintana Roo, El Colegio de la Frontera Sur-Unidad Chetumal and, more recently, the Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco. The driving force behind this event is to promote cooperation among the countries’ educational institutions through the sharing of knowledge on current academic projects and activities involving students, teachers and researchers.
This year’s seminar, to be hosted by the University of Belize under the theme Sustainable Development in the Maya World, will bring to the forefront the discussion on fundamental, common interest, issues such as water resource management, environmental protection and management, forest resource management, energy, entrepreneurship and wealth creation and technology applied to sustainable development, among others. The findings will not only provide critical knowledge for academia, but it will also significantly strengthen the research and learning capacity of the participating institutions.
The Keynote Addresses for this year’s seminar will be delivered on the 4th and 5th of October, 2018, by the Founder & Chairperson of Belize Natural Energy, Susan Morrice, and the Director General of ECOSUR, Dr. Mario González Espinosa, respectively.
