The Regional Language Center (RLC) offers a Certificate in English as a Second Language (CESL) that was designed for Belizean and international students who want to live and study in an English speaking country/environment, and for those who want to improve their personal, academic and professional skills in English. The CESL program is divided in two semesters; each semester is further divided into two 8-week quarters. All students that successfully complete intermediate conversation during the second or third quarters are required to complete the ESL Internship. The objective of the ESL Internship is to expose the students to diverse settings where they will be practicing English. This program focuses on improving students’ communications skills (conversation, reading and writing), while learning about the uniqueness of the Belizean culture and society.
