As you peruse the list below, you will observe that the University of Belize has four (4) Faculties and several Departments that deliver a wide cross-section of academic programs. The Programs of Study & Requirements contain the preliminary requirements for admission. We recommend that applicants contact the Admissions Office as the requirements outlined on this page are subjected to change based on program evaluation and review.

The Preliminary Requirements for Admissions Consideration

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 70%
  • GPA of 70% in Math and English
  • A High School Diploma
  • A minimum Cumulative GPA of 75% and above
  • Aminimum GPA of 75% and above in the subject areas for the specific major the applicant will pursue
  • A High School Diploma with a minimum GPA of 2.5 or above in Biology and Chemistry and or five (5) CXC passes at the general proficiency level in Biology, Chemistry, Math, English and any other subject relevant to the field
  •  CXC passes in Math and English only while the Certificate in Practical Nursing does not have a CXC requirement.

Kindly note that this is the only faculty at the University with the admissions requirements for CSEC (CXC) subjects.

The CXC requirements for this Faculty are suspended for applicants seeking admission in the August 2022 Semester.

  • Must have earned a minimum grade of “C” or “C+” in the case of the Faculty of Health Sciences programs, to be eligible for course transfers.

All applications undertake a full-circle evaluation process. Therefore, fulfillment of the preliminary requirements does not guarantee admission. An admission response will be provided directly to the applicant using the email address provided on the application. Further details on academic program requirements are available when you contact the Admissions Office at [email protected] or call 822-1000.

All programs are open for admission in the August (Fall) Semester but only selected programs are open in the January (Spring) Semester. Program openings are usually posted on the University’s Facebook page and website. In cases where applications are submitted late for the August (Fall) Semester, they are automatically processed for the next Semester that the program is offered. The Faculty of Health Sciences opens for admission in the August Semester only.

Nursing Department

CXC requirements for the Nursing program are suspended for the academic year August 2022.

Bachelor in Nursing * BNUR Applicants must possess a GPA of 2.5 or above in Biology and Chemistry and 5 CXC passes at the general proficiency level in Biology, Chemistry, Math, English and any other subject relevant to the field to be considered for admission.
Certificate in Practical Nursing CPRN Applicants must possess a High School diploma with GPA of 2.5 in Math, English and Biology and overall Cumulative GPA of 2.5.

Allied Health Department

CXC requirements for the BMLS  & BPHA programs are suspended for the academic year August 2022.

Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Science * BMLS Applicants must possess a GPA of 2.5 or above in Biology and Chemistry or CXC passes at the general proficiency level in Biology, Chemistry, Math and English to be considered for admission
Bachelor in Pharmacy * BPHA Applicants must possess a GPA of 2.5 or above in Biology and Chemistry or CXC passes at the general proficiency level in Biology, Chemistry, Math and English to be considered for admission

Social Work Department

CXC requirements for the social Work program are suspended for the academic year August 2022.

Bachelor in Social Work * BSOW Applicants must possess a GPA of 2.5 or above in the Liberal Arts, English and Math with CXC passes at the general proficiency level in English and Math.

Associate in Applied Agriculture AAGR Applicants must meet the preliminary requirements in English, Math, Biology, Chemistry and CGPA  at the high school level to be considered for admission.
Bachelor in Agriculture BAGR Applicants must possess an Associate Degree in Agriculture or related field.

Engineering Department

Associate in Architecture AARC Applicants must meet the preliminary requirements in English, Math and CGPA at the high school level to be considered for admission. Background in Technical Drawing is an asset.
Associate in Building & Civil Engineering ABCE Applicants must meet the preliminary requirements in English, Math and CGPA at the high school level to be considered for admission. Background in Technical Drawing is an asset.
